The new strip, sponsored by Nike, sees a return to a lighter ‘traditional’ shade of green, with white sleeves and a green collar. It will be teamed with white shorts and green and white socks.

For the first time, the club - in conjunction with main sponsors Crabbie’s - have asked supporters to unveil the new home kit, with five fans, who the club are calling ‘Your Famous Five’ in a nod to the forward line of the 1950s, modelling the new strip.

The five fans are described by the club as deserving supporters who have ‘showcased in their own ways, an all-encompassing commitment and great affection’ for Hibernian.

Head of Commercial Russell Smith said that the club were delighted to launch the club’s first home kit with five ‘modern day community heroes’.

He added: “This is special gesture from the club and Crabbie’s to our supporters, who we value and appreciate and it highlights the unsung heroes from the stands at Easter Road.

“This is the first time we’ve asked supporters to help unveil our new home kit, and we hope we can further strengthen the bond between our supporters and the club.”

Reaction to the new kit was mixed, with fans taking to Twitter to have their say.

One user, @joeeforson, tweeted: “I do like the new Hibs home kit but it is a bit bland, hopefully the away kit is something different’ with other fans welcoming a return to a lighter shade of green.

However, some supporters were more enthusiastic, with @LewisGFraser commenting: “Absolutely love this new Hibs kit!! One of the best!”

The new kit is on sale from the club shop as of today.
