Hibs’ Scott Robertson out for two months

HIBERNIAN boss Terry Butcher has confirmed that midfielder Scott Robertson will be out for up to two months.

A scan on a knee injury suffered in an under-20s match last week proved Robertson has torn his medial ligament as the club feared.

Butcher told Hibernian TV: “I’ve had many problems with those ligaments in the past and they are horrible to get right very quickly. We are looking at probably between six to eight weeks.”

Butcher is short of fit central midfielders, although the pair who started there on Saturday, Sam Stanton and Tom Taiwo, both scored in a 2-1 win over Ross County.

Owain Tudur Jones faces a further five weeks out with his hamstring injury while Kevin Thomson is unlikely to be ready for Saturday’s Scottish Premiership clash at Kilmarnock.

“Kevin Thomson is back in full squad training but he has only been back for three or four sessions,” Butcher said. “So he’s still quite some way off in terms of fitness and sharpness. But it’s good to see him back in action.

“Owain Tudur Jones has had an injection in his hamstring. We are looking at him building up to full fitness in four or five weeks at least.”

Meanwhile, Hibs striker Danny Haynes admits he has been surprised by the standard of Scottish football.

The on-loan Notts County forward made his debut in a William Hill Scottish Cup defeat by Raith Rovers before making his first start in the win over Ross County.

The 26-year-old, who has played for Ipswich, Bristol City, Barnsley and Charlton, told Press Association Sport: “It’s not what I thought it would be. It’s like the Premiership, Championship and League One all in one league up here.

“You get your good games and your not-so-good games. But you get that with every league.

“I found on Saturday that we had loads of time on the ball, so that was a bit different because in League One and the Championship it’s just rushed.

“So you do get a little bit more time on the ball, which is good.

“I am enjoying it. It was nice to get a start and the win on Saturday.”
