Hibs Ladies are left to rue mistakes

Hibs were their own worst enemies during a bad-tempered contest, with individual errors proving costly.

“Teams don’t have to work particularly hard to score against us just now and that is very frustrating,” confessed Kirk.

“However, if the girls learn from these mistakes then it will all have been worth it in the long run.

“We have a very young side this season and it will be a big learning curve for them as a number of girls try to find their feet in the senior game.

“We chose to play quality opposition like Liverpool, along with Everton last week, to challenge our players.

“They will take more from playing against those teams than they would if we had organised games against lower league Scottish sides.”

Liverpool opened the scoring against the run of play midway through the first half when the alert Kelly Jones was on hand to convert a cross from former Glasgow City striker Ruesha Littlejohn.

The English Super League side doubled their lead after the break through Nicki Harding before Jones made sure of the win with her second goal of the afternoon.

Hibs captain Laura Kennedy pulled a goal back late on with a terrific lob, however the Easter Road side never appeared likely to find parity.

Liverpool’s win was soured after goalkeeper Aroon Clansey suffered a suspected broken arm during the game, while Hibs midfielder Jenna Ross was another to have her afternoon curtailed by injury.
