Hibs appointment criticised as ‘cheap option’

A PROMINENT Hibs supporter has accused the club of going for the “cheap option” over the appointment of Pat Fenlon.

Mike Reilly, chairman of the Hibs Supporters’ club, claims the Easter Road faithful are split over the decision to plunder League of Ireland outfit Bohemians for the 42-year-old. He said: “I think it’s another cheap option. The board, Scott Lindsay and Fife Hyland, had the opportunity to go with someone with more experience. They’ve gone the same way as they’ve gone over the last few appointments, it seems to be that the cheap option is the answer to them. They had a big option to go and get Gordon Strachan and there was a rumour going round that Alex Miller was going to be the director of football. They had the opportunity to steady a ship and they have not taken it.

“A lot of the fans won’t be happy. They have taken, to me, a chance again in the hope that Mr Fenlon is a good manager. I certainly hope he is. From the text messages I’ve had, it’s not a great appointment. I don’t think it will have fans rushing back to buy half seasons tickets.”
