Graham Stack wants Hibs to noise the Dons up

The goalkeeper believes the Hibees have a team full of leaders but is looking for his buddies to become more vocal both before and during games, starting with this afternoon’s William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen.

Stack has been impressed by the way younger players like Paul Hanlon and David Wotherspoon handle themselves in a game situation but believes Hibs could benefit from a few more voices out on the pitch.

The 30-year-old is not the shy and retiring type and isn’t slow to let his team-mates know what he thinks, saying: “I have always tried to take on that role, even when I was a young lad and sooner than I probably would have been expected to.

“I have always been a vocal lad and had the qualities of being a leader. You need people like that and the more you get in a side, I think the better.

“I think it is something that we have lacked since I have been here, we have lacked people with that sense of leadership.

“This is not an inexperienced squad, but it is certainly quite a young squad. We’ve got guys who have got bundles of games behind them but they’re a not the most vocal.

“You don’t have to be vocal to be a leader, I have played under lads in the past who have been fairly quiet but who led by example.

“But the more voices that you have in the changing room, especially before a big game, that can only be a good thing as far as I can see.”

Meanwhile, Hibs were hoping to have sold around 15,000 for the match against the Dons at Hampden and Stack reckons that his side must be quick out of the starting blocks if they are to book their place in the final.

He believes that the Easter Road players will flourish in the atmosphere at the national stadium and added: “We need to make sure that we are overawed by the atmosphere or the occasion and we need to start well – as we should be in any game.

“I think it is something that we can thrive on. We need to come out the blocks quickly and make a statement and I think we can do that.”
