Furious Hibs fans call for Rod Petrie’s head

A GROUP of angry Hibernian fans protested outside the main entrance to Easter Road last night following the home side’s 1-0 home defeat by Dunfermline Athletic.

The pocket of disgruntled supporters voiced their displeasure with the board and called for chairman Rod Petrie to stand down.

The defeat leaves Hibs in ninth place in the Scottish Premier League, one point off bottom place. They have won just once at home in the league in the past nine months, increasing the pressure on manager Colin Calderwood who described yesterday’s defeat as “shocking”.

Referring to the fans’ reaction, Calderwood said: “It’s a shocking result for us and we take the blame for it. We’ve got to take whatever’s thrown at us. We’ll have to absorb that and come back and fight another day. We shouldn’t lose like that, in that manner.”

The manager has a record of 12 wins in 49 games after more than a year in charge. He said he would speak to Petrie before Tuesday’s annual general meeting at which both men are sure to be asked some challenging questions.
