First Edinburgh derby match rescheduled

THE first Edinburgh derby match of the new season has been rescheduled to allow it to be shown on television throughout the UK.

Hibernian will now take on their capital counterparts Hearts on Sunday August 12th at 12.30pm at Easter Road, in a repeat of last season’s Scottish Cup final.

The change in timing means Hibs will have to wait until their match away to St Mirren on August 18th for a Saturday 3pm kick off, as their opening match away to Dundee United has already been rescheduled due to the Tannadice club’s involvement in Europe.

Hearts’ opening match against St Johnstone at Tynecastle will kick off at 3pm on Saturday 4th August.

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon was critical of the scheduling arrangements last season, which saw his side kicking off matches at no less than 15 different times including 3.15pm on a Sunday and 7.45pm on a Monday.
