Falkirk happy to be ignored beside Hibs & Rangers

Lee Miller believes Falkirk have proved they can go “toe-to-toe” with Rangers and Hibernian after a blistering festive period saw them ascend to second spot in the Championship.

However, he still reckons the Bairns are destined to be ignored in the race for the Premiership.

Peter Houston’s dark horses have racked up a nine-match unbeaten run, including a creditable draw at Easter Road and a win over Rangers.

They have also illustrated an ability to grind out ugly wins with their recent hard-fought victories over Dumbarton and, on Tuesday evening, Livingston to leapfrog Hibs.

Falkirk have played a game more than their title rivals but Miller is adamant they have nothing to fear. “Even when Hibs were beaten on Sunday, no-one said ‘Falkirk could catch them’,” Miller said. “Still, nobody is bothered about us. That’s perfect and plays into our hands.

“Even now, we are not going to be talked about he way Rangers and Hibs are, unless it comes right down to the wire. Credit to Rangers and Hibs, they are massive clubs with big budgets, training grounds and all the facilities. But we are toe-to-toe with them.

“Tuesday night was a massive game for us and the boys dug deep for the three points. If we keep grinding out results like that then we’ll see where that takes us at the end of the season.”

Miller scored both goals as Falkirk secured a 2-0 win over Livingston – mere months since he was on
trial with the West Lothian club under then manager Mark Burchill.

Miller said: “I’ve never been in that position of not having a club at the start of the season and I am grateful to Mark [Burchill] for taking me in.

“When he got the sack, I got in touch to thank him for everything he did for me, letting me get my
fitness up.

“And working with them day-in, day-out, Livi are a really good side. I’m surprised they are down that end of the table. They are good players and they just need to regroup and bounce back.”
