Hibs: No new offers for Florian Kamberi as Rangers maintain interest

The Swiss-born forward has attracted attention from the UK and Europe

Hibs have not received any new offers for striker Florian Kamberi.

It is widely expected the 24-year-old will depart following comments made after he joined Rangers on loan last January.

The signing of Kevin Nisbet from Dunfermline Athletic has only increased the likelihood he will depart Easter Road where he has become persona non grata amongst fans, unimpressed that the player revealed he dreamt of playing for Rangers.

Kamberi, who has hit 30 goals in 84 appearances for Hibs, understandably has plenty of interest from around Europe and in the UK as he continues to train with the first-team.

Swiss league leaders St Gallen are one team which could offer him a way out and a return to Switzerland where he played for Grasshoppers of Zurich. They have a one-point advantage over Young Boys with six rounds of the Super League remaining.

If they hold off the threat of those below them, it would only be their third title in the club’s long history, second since 2000, and would offer the prospect of Champions League football.

Kamberi has been linked with Hull City and a return to Rangers.

With the transfer window now open, Steven Gerrard’s men still retain an interest. It is understood the Ibrox side would be open to a loan move which could see Greg Docherty moving the other way, the midfielder having impressed during his spell at Hibs.

Kamberi, however, is pushing for a permanent transfer with the club keen to recoup the six-figure fee paid out to land the player following a successful loan spell in 2018.

He is under contract with Hibs until 2022.
