Hibs to fight Jason Cummings derby gesture charge
The 19-year-old was booked by Steven McLean for a perceived inflammatory celebration after his opening goal at Tynecastle, as was Hearts midfielder Jamie Walker after his equaliser. But it is understood the referee did not see any gesture aimed towards the home fans by Cummings, prompting SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan to act retrospectively.
Cummings’ case will be heard at Hampden today and, should he be found guilty of the offence, the in-form youngster will miss Saturday’s clash against Falkirk. He vented his anger on Tuesday evening, tweeting: “Match ban for celebrating your goal..Bore off. The games gone!” The message has since been deleted.

Hide AdIn a statement, Hibernian said: “Following review of the information received from the SFA Compliance Officer, Hibernian can confirm that the one-match suspension offered to Jason Cummings for an alleged breach of Rule 200 has been rejected and that the club have requested that the matter be referred to the Judicial Panel who will meet at a Principal Hearing on Thursday 8 January.”
James McFadden will miss St Johnstone’s next three matches after the Perth club chose not to contest the ban offered to the playmaker. He was caught making an offensive gesture towards Hamilton fans after being sent off during the Saints’ 1-0 defeat at the weekend.
In a busy day at Hampden today, three claims for wrongful dismissal will also be heard. Motherwell’s Stephen McManus, St Mirren’s Kenny McLean and Thomas O’Brien of Cowdenbeath are seeking to have their red cards against Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Dumbarton respectively overturned.
