The former Hibs and Scotland striker was placed in temporary charge earlier in the week after the departure of Steve Forrest.

He oversaw his side’s brutal 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Gretna 2008. However, Selkirk bosses have been unmoved by the result, instead concentrating on the wealth of experience O’Connor has in the game.

During a controversial career, O’Connor made seven figure switches to Lokomotiv Moscow and Birmingham City, while also making 16 appearances for his country.

He will remain involved in the playing side with Selkirk, balancing it with his new duties as manager.
