Grant Murray’s young Hibees clinched the league title two weeks ago and claimed the double on Thursday with a 3-1 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Youth Cup.

Hibs were presented with their league trophy after the match, but before that they had to take care of the Steelmen at a sun-drenched Oriam.

It took Murray’s men 25 minutes to open the scoring, although they were given a helping hand from the visitors’ Shaun Bowers as he headed home an own goal from Fraser Murray’s cross.

Murray was the architect for Hibs just two minutes later, with Josh Campbell on hand to make it 2-0 by converting his cross.

Murray again provided an assist on 41 minutes, swinging in a corner for Kevin Waugh to make it 3-0 as Hibs went in well ahead at the break.

Sean Mackie netted five minutes after the restart to make it 4-0 and although Motherwell responded with goals from Kyle McDonald and Jamie Semple, they proved to be consolations.

Hibs Under-20s: Dabrowski, Donaldson, Mackie, Porteous, Waugh, Campbell, F Murray, Stirling, Allan, I Murray, Gullan. Substitutes: Martin, O’Connor, Watson, Woods, Paton.
