Leeann Dempster, the Hibs chief executive, said: “We set the 10,000 target after we witnessed the scenes during the cup parade. Seeing the community come together to celebrate was wonderful and we want to bring more of them together every other week here at Easter Road.

“Season ticket numbers are up by a third, that’s an incredible increase and testimony to the superb Hibernian support who continue to rally round the club. I want to say thank you to all of the fans for backing us in such a large number, both new and returning, and I also want to thank the staff at the club for their efforts. It’s been a busy summer without much of a break and they too should be happy with the achievement.”

Hibs kick off the new season with an away game against Falkirk on 6 August. Their first home match is against Dunfermline Athletic on 11 August.
