The Scottish Cup sponsors posted a tweet, which is still online, praising Rangers but brought backlash.

The bookmakers tweeted: “List of teams unbeaten in England and Scotland in all competitions

“Rangers

“End of list.”

Steven Gerrard’s men are top of the Premiership after 12 games having dropped points in just two, while they have won all four European matches.

However, Rangers are one of four teams in the top four divisions of Scotland to still be unbeaten in all competitions.

Hearts, who face Hibs in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi final this weekend, have won all five of their fixtures this campaign, winning three Betfred Cup games and the two Championship encounters so far.

Dunfermline Athletic too, have won all five, while Elgin sit top of League Two and their Betfred Cup group with four wins from four.

One Hearts fan said: ”For the company that is sponsoring a pair of cup semi-finals at the weekend that includes a team, not only unbeaten but with a 100% record, this is poor.”

It is the latest grievance towards companies involved in the game for Scottish football fans, following Sky Sports’ ‘promotional’ clip for Aberdeen v Celtic.

Dons chief Dave Cormack hit out at the broadcaster on Twitter, not his “disappointment” as he felt it was there to “humiliate” Aberdeen. The apology he asked for was received.

A statement said: “Aberdeen FC chairman Dave Cormack and Sky Sports Director of Football Gary Hughes held an open, constructive, and positive Zoom conversation about yesterday’s tweet and the concerns raised by Aberdeen.

“While the tweet was part of a number of features within an hour long build-up and not intended to be used in isolation, Sky unreservedly apologised for any offence the tweet caused to Aberdeen and their fans.

“The apology has been accepted by the club. Sky Sports also outlined its plans and ambitions for the future of Scottish football and will work with Aberdeen to deliver these over the period of the exclusive contract with the SPFL.”
