Recent Hearts signings Jordan Roberts and Josh Ginnelly were the standouts in a 2-1 victory against St Mirren on Wednesday afternoon.
Roberts opened the scoring and Jamie Walker converted Ginnelly's cross to give the visitors a two-goal cushion at the break.
Kyle McAllister struck in the second half but Hearts held firm to record a welcome win against Premiership opposition.
After Friday’s outing against the English Premier League side Sheffield United at Riccarton, the Edinburgh club travelled to Paisley for their second pre-season warm-up.
Roberts signed a permanent contract at Tynecastle Park last month and Ginnelly completed a loan move from Preston hours before kick-off.
Craig Gordon made his first appearance in goal after illness but captain Steven Naismith and defender Christophe Berra were still absent as they continue recovering from minor injuries.
The match kicked off at 12pm and Roberts opened the scoring after 33 minutes. Ginnelly then skipped clear of his marker to supply a low cross from the right for Walker to double the advantage two minutes from the interval.
Lewis Moore, Elliott Frear, Andy Irving and Ben Garuccio were introduced for the second half alongside an unnamed trialist. Roberts, Ginnelly, Loic Damour, Olly Lee and Aidy White all made way.
St Mirren reduced the deficit on 57 minutes when McAllister steered a low shot past Gordon and into the goalkeeper’s bottom right corner.
Hearts then made three further changes as Harry Cochrane, Euan Henderson and Connor Smith replaced Craig Halkett, Craig Wighton and Walker.
They saw out the game to head back to the Capital in a fair degree of satisfaction.
