The Swedish forward
impressed in Saturday’s 3-0 at East Fife, netting the third goal. At 6ft 4in tall, Sow offers a significant aerial presence but Neilson is just as enthusiastic about his potential with the ball at his feet.

Hearts have already recruited Dutch-Moroccan striker Soufian El Hassnaoui but the former Sparta Rotterdam player is battling be fit for the Championship opener at Rangers after undergoing a groin operation.

Neilson says that Sow, who was with Syrianska in his homeland prior to moving to London, is exactly the type of player he is looking for.

Neilson said: “We’re in a situation that I’m happy with what we’ve got, I would like to add one or two but I can wait.

“I thought Osman did really well against East Fife. He gives us a different option up there, we’ll speak to him and see what his thoughts are.”

Neilson, who is also hoping to complete the signing of former Dundee United midfielder Prince Bauben this week, added: “We’re looking to get a bit of physical presence. Sow brings physical presence as well as real electric pace. It’s easy to pick someone up who is just a big lump who gets flick-ons. We’re looking for somebody better than that.

“He’s played in a few countries, including England, so he knows the physicality of the British game.”
