Templeton undergoes surgery on double hernia

DAVID TEMPLETON has undergone surgery on a double hernia but should be fit to take part when Hearts return for pre-season training in early July.

The winger missed the Scottish Cup final against Hibs and was forced to sit in the stand whilst his colleagues romped to a 5-1 victory at Hampden Park. He has since travelled to Manchester to visit a specialist, who recommended an operation.

The recovery time from a double hernia is between four and six weeks, therefore Templeton is expected to miss very little of Hearts’ pre-season preparations.

He was absent for two months of last season because of a troublesome groin problem which is now cured. Undergoing surgery on the hernia should ensure he is injury-free for the start of the new SPL campaign on Saturday, August 4.
