Outstanding Hearts wages due to be paid today

UNPAID Hearts players were due to receive their outstanding wages today, the Evening News can reveal.

Club officials were preparing to process payments for six players plus manager John McGlynn this afternoon and have predicted that there will be no further salary delays.

A Hearts spokesperson said: “We fully expect that the 
remaining players will be paid their October salaries this 
afternoon and we predict that the late payment issues are now resolved.”

Cashflow problems led to six of Hearts’ highest earners and McGlynn not receiving wages as scheduled on Monday. All concerned have been relatively relaxed about the issue with the club now operating without funding from its parent company, Ukio Bankas Investment Group.

Funds have arrived into Hearts’ coffers and will now be distributed to those still awaiting salaries. Some players 
had consulted their union, PFA Scotland, for advice earlier this week but processing wages 
today will alleviate most of their concern.

The Scottish Premier League are due to meet at Hampden Park on Monday to discuss the latest salary problems at Tynecastle having imposed a transfer embargo on Hearts when wages for certain players were delayed by four days last month.

They are unlikely to deduct any league points as a punishment, but may decide to fine the club or impose some kind of suspended sanction in the hope that there is no repeat of the wage delays which have seen H
