Jason Holt hoping Hearts’ young guns get on again

JASON HOLT is keeping his fingers crossed that Paulo Sergio gives Hearts’ youngsters another chance to link up when they take on Aberdeen this weekend.

The midfielder was one of a host of Academy graduates who were handed a start against St Johnstone last weekend and scored Hearts’ only goal.

Three of them – Holt, Scott Robinson and Ryan McGowan – combined to hit the back of the net in Perth and Holt is keeping his fingers crossed that his performance at McDiarmid Park is enough to secure him a spot against the Dons on Saturday.

He said: “I would like to play again this weekend but it’s up to the manager, he picks the team. Scott and me were in the middle of the park which made it good for us. For the goal, Scott played it out to Ryan McGowan and he swung it into me, so there were three of us linking up. I was delighted to get a goal in my first start.”

“I came on in a game against Dundee United last May, so I’ve waited quite a while for this chance. I’ve been patient, worked hard and did quite well. We shaped up in training on Friday and I thought I might be starting, but you are never sure until the manager tells you on a Saturday.”
