Genero Zeefuik ‘raring to go’ after joining Hearts

The 24-year-old Dutch striker told HeartsTV: “I hope to play a lot of games and score a lot of goals here. I want to have a good season.

“If I’m told I’m starting against Dumbarton tomorrow then I’m fit and ready to go.”

Zeefuik, a former Netherlands Under-21 international, added: “I’m a big man, as you can see. My qualities are that I can hold the ball and let players come to me. I can score goals, that’s me!”

The powerful forward, who has had spells with PSV Eindhoven, Dordrecht and NAC Breda, said that he had taken advice from Hearts stars past and present before agreeing to join the Tynecastle side.

He said: “I spoke to Soufian El Hassnaoui on the phone before coming here and also Mark de Vries. He said it’s a very good club with good fans, everybody here is very good and they have respect for everybody here.

“He talked to me and said if you can go then you should go.”

Zeefuik, who learned his trade in the prestigious Ajax academy, added: “I’m very happy to be here - I heard two days ago that I could come to Hearts, so I go to Google and see it’s a big club, good fans and my answer was directly yes. It was a very easy decision to make.
