Don’t call Dylan McGowan the new me, pleads big brother Ryan

RYAN McGOWAN is hoping younger brother Dylan isn’t burdened by expectations as he bids to establish himself in the Hearts first team, writes ANTHONY BROWN.

Ryan became one of the Tynecastle side’s star performers after barely a season and a half as a regular in the first team, but the 23-year-old is hoping fans don’t put unfair pressure on his sibling, 21, to shoot to prominence at the same rapid pace.

“I’m delighted for Dylan to be getting his chance – he’s done really well so far,” said Ryan. “I was so proud that we got the chance to play together a few times at the end of last year. I just really hope he gets the chance to develop in his own way at his own pace. Because he’s my brother,
people will compare us, but I hope people don’t expect him to be the new me or anything like that. He’s still young and finding his feet, so I hope people remember that.”
