Danny Galbraith makes return to training at Hibs

Hibs midfielder Danny
Galbraith has taken a first step towards a comeback after
returning to training, boss Pat Fenlon revealed today.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined since late January with a groin problem which required a “clean-up” operation at the end of last season but was ruled out of the beginning of the current campaign as he recovered.

Galbraith has been working with the club physios for some time now, but has been given the green light to up his workrate, although Fenlon was unwilling to set any target date for a return to first team action for the former Manchester United youngster.

Fenlon said: “It’s difficult to say because Danny has been out for so long. It’s a case of getting him into training, get a week under his belt and then see how he is. We are not in a position to push him as he’s had too many setbacks. He’ll take it easy at the moment, [we’ll be] monitoring him and seeing what reaction there is to his training.

“Hopefully we’ll then be able to get him involved in some bounce games or the Under-20 matches and see how he does. But it’s hard for me to say how long it will be before we see him back playing competitive matches.”

Fenlon also disclosed Lewis Stevenson has managed to do some light jogging less than a fortnight after breaking the big toe in his left foot during the derby day draw with Hearts, raising hopes the little midfielder might be back within the six-week time scale originally envisaged.

The Hibs manager, who

admitted Stevenson’s absence has limited his options in the middle of the park, said: “It’s a small fracture, but there isn’t a lot we can do for Lewis.

“It’s a matter of trying to keep him ticking over and making sure when he comes back he’s fit enough to go into the team.

“Hopefully it won’t be as long as first feared.”
