Jamie Hamill gets four-match ban for Adams barge

Hamill appeared before the Scottish FA’s Disciplinary Tribunal at Hampden yesterday alongside PFA Scotland representative Stuart Lovell to contest the excessive misconduct charge. But the panel decided on a four-game ban, one of which is suspended until the end of next term. As Hamill has already served an automatic one-match penalty against Hibs after being shown a second yellow card by referee Willie Collum for his part in the touchline melee, he only has a two-match ban to serve.

Unable to appeal against the decision, the 27-year-old will sit out tomorrow’s final game of the campaign at St Mirren and, should he extend his stay at Tynecastle, Hamill will also miss the first round of next season’s Ramsdens Cup on 26 July.

A SFA spokesperson said: “Mr Hamill has received a four-match suspension, one of which has already been served and one suspended until the end of season 2014/15 if he breaches Rule 201 again. The remaining two-match suspension will be served immediately.”

The incident happened moments after Hamill scored from the penalty spot in Hearts’ 2-0 win at Tynecastle on 19 April. After taunting the County players by refusing to give the ball back, Hamill ran straight into Adams in the technical area, knocking him off his feet.

After dealing with the matter internally, Hearts manager Gary Locke hoped ‘common sense’ would prevail and Hamill would receive no further punishment.
