The former Hearts winger arrived in Somerset on Monday eager to improve his fitness having last played for Dynamo in the MLS Conference Finals back in November.

Reports had suggested a possible return to Tynecastle for Driver if Hearts can sign players to replace any who leave whilst the club is in administration. However, there have been no talks between Driver and his former club. The 26-year-old is currently preoccupied with training and rediscovering his sharpness at Yeovil, who sit second bottom of England’s Championship.

“Andrew has joined us for a little while,” explained Gary Johnson, the Yeovil manager. “I know him quite well from his Hearts days, when my son Lee played there. He’s just come back from America and probably needs a couple of weeks to get fit. It’s too early to talk about anything more than that.

“There haven’t been any talks about him signing here or anything like that. Andrew hasn’t played for a little while. I think November was his last game. We all know he is a quality player when he’s right. We just need to see if we’ve got that time. There isn’t a time limit on this, we’re having a chat every day and taking it from there.”

Driver left Hearts last February to join Houston Dynamo and enjoyed a productive period in the United States, helping the club reach the latter stages of the MLS play-offs and being voted Dynamo’s best newcomer.

However, he was released at the end of the MLS season in November and is now exploring all avenues to continue his career at as high a level as possible. Yeovil would be keen to sign him on a short-term deal if he proves his fitness and is willing to move to Somerset.
