Ex-Hearts star Aaron Hickey is in line for his Bologna debut tonight after being included in the 24-man squad for the clash with Parma.

The 18-year-old was finally confirmed as a signing by the Serie A side last week in one of the most unusual announcement videos featuring Loch Ness, bagpipes and a dinosaur figurine.

Hickey had been attracting interest from around Europe and had even visited German giants Bayern Munich before opting for an Italian adventure, becoming the latest Scottish starlet to ply his trade abroad.

With first-choice left-back Mitchell Dijks suspended following his red card in the league opener with AC Milan, Hickey could be drafted in for a place in the starting XI by boss Siniša Mihajlović.

The Derby dell'Emilia pits Bologna against Emilia-Romagna rivals Parma who have ex-Arsenal attacker Gervinho and former Rangers centre-back Bruno Alves amongst their ranks.

While Stefano Denswil and new signing Lorenzo De Silvestri can fill in at left-back, Hickey is the only recognised player for that position in the squad.

It would be the latest staging post in his meteoric rise which started with a substitute appearance at Aberdeen in the penultimate league game of the 2018/19 season before starting the Scottish Cup final aged just 16.

The game is live at 7.45pm on Premier Sports or the LiveScore app giving fans the chance to catch a glimpse of Hickey in Serie A.
