He spent five-and-a-half years at Tynecastle, including a spell as Cowdenbeath manager, in a variety of roles.

Fox was part of the first-team coaching staff before taking on the Reserve team following Daniel Stendel's arrival.

The 36-year-old, who spent seven years at Livingston as a player, departed Tynecastle at the start of September.

He told the club’s official website: “I am delighted and privileged to become assistant manager of Livingston Football Club – a club I was also lucky enough to play for and captain during my playing career.

“Since Davie asked me to come and help, the staff and players have been fantastic to work with and very welcoming. We have a good squad and we must keep working hard every day to improve individually and collectively, both on and off the park.

“It’s my aim to help the manager put a team on the pitch that wins football matches and do so in a way that the supporters are proud of.”

Martindale added: “I am extremely happy that Foxy has chosen to come on board as my assistant. I have spoken with him on and off for the last 5 years and struck up a good relationship with him.”
