Handcuff protest was over job snub

THE man who handcuffed himself to a goalpost during Tuesday night’s Everton versus Manchester City match did so to protest about Ryanair not giving his daughter a job.

The man emerged from the crowd at Goodison shortly before half-time, and shackled himself to the frame of City keeper Joe Hart’s goal. A message on his T-shirt read: “Europe’s greatest training robbers. Ryanair. Lowest wages guaranteed. Stop. Recruitment scamming our children.” The ref had to halt the game while the offender was cut free with bolt cutters and led away by police.
