The last time Accies paid a transfer fee was back in 2009 when they splashed out a reported £180,000 to sign former goalkeeper Tomas Cerny from Czech side Sigma Olomouc.

But Tomas admits he had no idea his new club had to fork out to secure his services.

“You think they paid a fee for my transfer?” he asked when quizzed on the matter by reporters at his official unveiling. “Okay. I didn’t know.

“I’m not afraid of it though. It’s not like they have spent £50million so it’s okay.

“I have good confidence in me anyway. This won’t disturb me. I am focused on the league. I need to practice and play some games because I haven’t played for a couple of months.

“But after that I want to be ready for the league and give my best to help the team.”

The Hamilton support will get their first glimpse of Tomas when they host Betfred Cup opponents Queen of the South on Saturday.
