Hall’s late slip-up hands victory to City over Vale

An opportunist goal from Edinburgh City striker Robbie Ross, with less than two minutes left, earned the Meadowbank-based side a narrow 2-1 victory which has seen them leap-frog three other Central Taxis East of Scotland League Premier Division clubs including their opponents last night, Vale of Leithen.

The game appeared to be heading for a 1-1 draw when former City player Jordan Hall, who had come on as a second-half substitute, was put under pressure on the edge of his own penalty box. His attempted back pass to goalkeeper Chris Hill was short and Ross gleefully managed to force the loose ball over the line from ten yards out despite the attentions of Hill.

After a goal-less first half of few goalmouth incidents, City took the lead eight minutes into the second period when a good move on the right culminated in a penetrating cross from Gary Cennerazzo which Ross converted from close range at the back post.
