France want Scots as final pre-Euro 2012 opponents

FRANCE want to face Scotland as their final friendly before they meet England at Euro 2012. The French have asked the SFA to consider a match in Le Mans on 5 June, which would prepare them for playing the English in Donetsk, Ukraine six days later.

However, Scotland manager Craig Levein would have to decide whether he would want to play the match, after already committing to a May game instead, though the opponents for that match have still to be announced. The French are also trying to meet Scotland’s opening World Cup opponents, Serbia, in Reims before the European Championship.

The last time Scotland met France, James McFadden netted a superb goal to give the Scots a famous 1-0 win in front of 25,000 of their own fans in the Parc des Princes in 2007. It completed a magical double against France after a Gary Caldwell goal the year before had sealed another 1-0 success at Hampden against the World Cup runners-up.

If Scotland accepted the challenge match, it would be played in the 25,000-capacity MM Arena, home of French Second Division side Le Mans FC.
