Former Rangers star Gattuso takes charge at Sion

FORMER Rangers and AC Milan midfielder Gennaro ‘Rino’ Gattuso has been named player-coach at Swiss side FC Sion.

The midfielder, famed for his aggressive style, has taken charge at the club following a series of poor results. In a statement, Sion said: “Until further notice, the players will manage their activities themselves.”

FC Sion have been involved in a number of controversies in recent years. They were thrown out of the Europa League in 2011 after beating Celtic. The Swiss side had fielded five ineligible players in the tie.
