Frank McAvennie

Sparkled in the 1985-86 season following his move from St Mirren, scoring 26 times as the Hammers achieved their highest-ever league finish of third in the old First Division. Only Gary Lineker bettered his goals tally that season as McAvennie struck up a profitable partnership with Tony Cottee. It was to be a short-lived affair as McAvennie signed for Celtic the following season. He returned to West Ham for a second spell where he endured a broken leg, relegation and promotion before scoring a hat-trick in his final game for the club

Ray Stewart

Made 432 appearances for the Hammers from 1979 to 1991 following his move from Dundee United at the age of 19 for £430,000. A prolific penalty taker, he scored over 50 times for the London club. In 1980 he became the only non-Englishman to appear in a West Ham FA Cup-winning side.

A star striker for the club in the 1950s and early 1960s, only Vic Watson and World Cup winner Geoff Hurst scored more for the club than the Glasgow-born inside left. Helped West Ham win promotion into the First Division in 1957-58.

Neil Orr

Son of Morton great Tommy, Neil Orr also began his career at Cappielow before winning his move to West Ham where he made over 175 league and cup appearances. Alongside fellow Scots McAvennie and Stewart was a key part of the 1985-86 team which finished third in the top flight. Later played for Hibs and St Mirren

Christian Dailly

Played his part in the Championship play-off final win over Preston in 2005 and followed that up a year later with another trip to the Millennium Stadium where the Hammers were unlucky to lose the FA Cup final to Liverpool on penalties.
