First Division: Comfortable victory maintains Partick’s 100 per cent record

Partick Thistle defeated visitors Dumbarton 3-0 on Saturday and are now the only team in the three SFL Divisions with a perfect record of played three and won three.

Their latest success came through a Kris Doolan header from a Stuart Bannigan cross on 16 minutes, with Chris Erskine doubling their lead just after the hour when he converted a Paul Paton pass. Bannigan added the third to move Thistle two points clear of the field.

Manager Jackie McNamara, more delighted with his team’s style than their perfect points haul, said: “We are playing some really exciting football which is thrilling me more than our run of results.

“It is only very early in the season and it is great that our fans are getting excited, but we will not be getting carried away.”

Dumbarton sit at the foot of the table. However, manager Alan Adamson was upbeat, saying: “We played the best we have all season and lost 3-0, and that probably says more about how good Thistle are.”

Raith Rovers’ bright start under new manager Grant Murray stretched to six unbeaten games with a goalless draw against Livingstonat Stark’s Park.

Iain Russell went close for the Lions in the first half with a well-struck shot, while Andy McNeil tipped an effort by the home side’s Pat Clarke onto the bar in the second, before home substitute Greig Spence fluffed his lines when he was put clean through with five minutes left.

Andy Dowie and Stephen Husband struck in the last ten minutes to help Dunfermline grab a 2-1 win over hosts Airdrie, who had led through John Boyle’s header in 26 minutes. The Pars put on a powerful second-half showing to turn things around, with Dowie thumping home following a corner and Husband heading in the winner.

Cowdenbeath won for the second week in a row by seeing off Hamilton 1-0 at Central Park. Kyle Miller was the match-winner with a goal after just 12 minutes.

Falkirk picked up their first league win with a 2-1 success over Morton at Cappielow. Jay Fulton scored for the Bairns after nine minutes, Morton drew level through Archie Campbell and Bairns’ summer signing Luke Taylor hit the winner seven minutes from half time.

The home side pushed for a leveller in the second half, but Falkirk goalkeeper Michael McGovern stood strong.
