Darren McGregor put the visitors ahead after 20 minutes following Kris Boyd’s flick on.

But two minutes later Rory Loy, who has signed a pre-contract agreement with Dundee, headed John Baird’s cross beyond Rangers keeper Lee Robinson to bring the home side level. It was the striker’s 12th goal of the season.

The result meant Rangers missed the chance to leapfrog Hibs into second place, while the Bairns moved up to fourth, ahead of Queen of the South, who make the journey to Dumbarton today.

Rangers manager Kenny McDowall said: “I think it was a point gained because we were poor tonight.

“The lads battled away in the second half but the first half was poor and nothing like the standards we’ve been getting to.”

He added: “This is not an easy place to come so leaving here with a point is not a bad result for us.”
