MacPherson said: “People have brought a sideshow to town and what you have is a couple of business people and agents who are saying they are representing the club.

“I think it is scandalous and unprofessional the way they have gone about this and it has only been leaked from one side.

“There are one or two individuals and they know who they are and one of them has since apologised to me and the other has threatened me.

“There is no reason why this had to be leaked before a massive game and if that is the type of people you want in your town then it is a bad day. I am proud of my players and if we play like that in the next few games then we can stay in the First Division.”

Falkirk boss Steven Pressley also waded into the row, saying: “I am disgusted at the situation Gus has to face today as he is a man of integrity. He has conducted himself with dignity given the difficult position he has been put in.

“As for the game, I am proud of my players for their excellent ball retention on a pitch that was in very bad condition.”

Lee Robinson kept Queen’s level with a great parrying save after he had been wrong-footed by Jay Fulton’s powerful 12 yard shot on 27 minutes.

Then on 60 minutes only a brilliant diving save from Michael McGovern denied Danny Carmichael from his well-placed shot from going into the bottom corner.

Then a minute later McGovern made an instinctive one handed save from Scott McLaughlin’s point-blank range effort after Carmichael’s cutback from the byeline.

On 86 minutes Falkirk nearly grabbed the points against the run of play when Fulton shot against the post from ten yards.
