Fyvie races a month out after ankle scan

Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie is likely to be out for three to four weeks with the ankle injury suffered during the club’s William Hill Scottish Cup win over Motherwell.

The club revealed scans on his left ankle showed no break but there is ligament damage.

Fyvie himself tweeted: “Not broken any bones, ligaments are badly damaged!!! Obviously hoping for the semi!”

Richards tries to explain Fifa remark

English Premier League chairman Dave Richards yesterday tried to explain his comments at a conference in Doha about football’s world governing body Fifa “stealing” the game from the British, saying he had not meant to cause offence. “First of all I’d like to clarify something. I’m a Yorkshireman and I’m quite broad [spoken],” he said. “If I say something it can be taken a little out of context. I was asked about the heritage of the game. I would never want to offend Fifa or Uefa.”

l IN yesterday’s story about Richards, The Associated Press erroneously quoted Richards referring to Fifa. His correct quote was “some guy came along and said ‘we like this,’ and they actually stole it. It was called Fifa.” He did not use the words “you’re liars.”
