Falkirk rebuff second offer for El Alagui

FALKIRK have rejected an increased offer from Crawley Town for prolific top scorer Farid El Alagui.

The Moroccan has been linked with interest from Aberdeen and English Premier League side Stoke City in recent days after capturing the imagination of a host of clubs with 21 goals so far this season. However, cash-rich League Two promotion hopefuls Crawley Town are the club making the early running in the race to sign the 26-year-old.

Falkirk manager Steven Pressley branded the West Sussex club’s opening bid of £30,000 as ‘derisory’ and has revealed a second offer for the former Wydad Casablanca marksman, understood to have been £70,000, has also been rejected out of hand.

He said: “There’s been a renewed bid from Crawley Town, which has been rejected again. It was less derisory this time but it was still nowhere near our valuation.

“He’s very happy at this moment in time, he’s enjoying his football and he’s shown no indication he has a feeling he wants to leave.”

With English Premier League newcomers Swansea City apparently eyeing a pre-contract move for midfielder Mark Millar and the likes of Murray Wallace, Kallum Higginbotham and Craig Sibbald also attracting interest, Pressley is anticipates activity before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

While he does not want his team broken up as they eye success on four fronts this term, the Bairns boss has confessed El Alagui, has a ‘selling point’. “Like any player, there is always a valuation that, if met, will entice a club to sell,” he said.
