Colin Cameron in the frame for vacant Falkirk post

Falkirk may turn to Berwick Rangers player/boss Colin Cameron to become their new manager after Gary Holt opted to move to Norwich City.

Cameron was in charge of Cowdenbeath when he was interviewed for the Bairns position after Steven Pressley left it in March 2013, but he lost out to Holt as he was adamant that his Central Park assistant Lee Makel was to come with him.

Falkirk wanted Stevie Crawford to remain in position and Holt was appointed. However, Cameron is back in the frame as Crawford is now at Hearts and Holt is away to be the assistant manager at Carrow Road. The 41-year-old former Scottish international left the Fife club last November and took over at Shielfield in January and almost took them to the play-offs.

Falkirk are moving quickly in their search with applications to be in place for next Monday.

Technical Director Alex Smith said: “Colin was certainly involved in the running the last time the job was available. Things never worked out at that time as he had a pact with Lee.

“I am not aware if he will apply this time out, but like anyone else who is interested, he will need to be quick as Falkirk will need to move quickly as our pre-season starts before the end of the month.”
