FA Cup: MK Dons add to QPR’s woes with Loftus Road thumping

QPR joined Norwich and Aston Villa as Premier League outfits to be embarrassed by lower-division opponents in the FA Cup fourth round as MK Dons won 4-2 at Loftus Road yesterday.

Armand Traore’s fourth-minute own goal and Ryan Lowe’s 40th-minute effort gave the visitors control at half-time.

Ryan Harley and Darren Potter made it 4-0 before Jay Bothroyd and Fabio pulled two late goals back. Manchester City booked their place in today’s fifth round draw with a 1-0 victory at Stoke, Pablo Zabaleta grabbing the only goal five minutes from time.

Neighbours Manchester United were 4-1 conquerors of Fulham. Ryan Giggs converted a third-minute penalty – 20 years and three days after his first FA Cup goal – before Wayne Rooney and a double from Javier Hernandez added to the lead. Aaron Hughes, whose handball gave away the early spot-kick, replied.

Olivier Giroud scored twice as Arsenal won 3-2 at Brighton. He gave the Gunners the lead twice, but equalisers from Ashley Barnes and Jose Ulloa kept the Seagulls in it until Theo
Walcott’s 85th-minute winner.

Johnny Heitinga’s 90th-minute goal gave Everton a 2-1 success at Bolton. Reading eased into the last 16 with a 4-0 win over Sheffield United, with Noel Hunt scoring twice. Jordi Gomez’s seventh-minute penalty was enough to give Premier League Wigan a 1-0 win at non-league Macclesfield.

Danny Hylton’s 89th-minute goal seemed to have earned Aldershot a replay at Middlesbrough but Lukas Jutkiewicz netted a last-minute winner. Blackburn were 3-0 winners at Derby, Jordan Rhodes among the scorers, while Chris Dagnall’s goal saw Barnsley beat Hull 1-0. Lee Novak’s 74th-minute penalty gave Huddersfield the lead against Leicester but Chris Wood earned a replay.
