FA Cup: Blackpool and Millwall move into last 16

LOMANA LuaLua scored a superb goal to help Blackpool secure an FA Cup fifth-round trip to Premier League Everton.

The former Newcastle United and Portsmouth striker, who had spells in Greece, Qatar and Cyprus before returning to English football in October, scored the Championship side’s second goal in a resounding 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their fourth round replay at Hillsborough. LuaLua, the Democratic Republic of Congo striker, ran from halfway, before checking on to his right foot and curling a shot high into the roof of the net from the edge of the box after 15 minutes.

Millwall beat Championship rivals Southampton 3-2 in last night’s other replay with Liam Feeney scored a stoppage-time winner. The Lions now have a last 16 tie at home to top-flight strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has challenged his young guns to dump Sunderland out of the FA Cup tonight. The Black Cats will arrive on Tees-side without several key players through injury and ineligibility, although O’Neill’s selection problems pale into insignificance alongside those of opposite number Mowbray, who could be without five of the men who started the 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light on 29 January. Mowbray will have to draft in a number of development squad players but will not be afraid to do so.

He said: “Some young boys who have been playing development games and not being around the team, if they get an opportunity, who’s to say they don’t grab it with both hands, score the winner, push themselves in for next weekend and off they go?”

Keeper Danny Coyne and striker Scott McDonald are definitely out while Faris Haroun, Barry Robson and Marvin Emnes are still being assessed.
