Everything is rosy for Rose after eight-goal thumping

LINLITHGOW marched on their way with another very impressive win over Blackburn, beating the South Division side 8-0.

The Rose goals came from Tommy Coyne, with a double, new signing David Dunn, with another double, plus strikes from Ruari McLennan, Gordon Herd, Stuart McArthur and Stevie Manson.

That’s 18 goals in three games for Mark Bradley’s men with only Stoneyburn scoring against them.

This time last season it took until after Christmas before they recorded a clean sheet and it represents a very impressive start to retaining the Dechmont Forklift League Cup trophy they won last year.

Bonnyrigg kept up their momentum with a shaky 1-0 win at Penicuik. Penicuik had all the pressure, but, with Rose goalkeeper Andy Carlin in sparkling form, it was inevitable that the Super league champions would grab a goal.

Newtongrange travelled to Musselburgh looking for a sign that they were on the right track for promotion. A win against a Super league side would let them know how much more they need to do. They don’t need much after recording a 3-1 win. Newtongrange’s goals came from Chris King and Paul Tansey, both players scoring against their former clubs.

Bathgate were looking for a response after a poor start to their League Cup campaign when they travelled to Super League side Camelon. New boss Derek Strickland was delighted with his side’s 1-0 win: “It felt good to get back to a winning formula. I felt we controlled the game and were comfortable playing against a Super league side.

“Alan Brazil scored the only goal of the game and proved just how important a player he will be for us this season.”

Broxburn were at Edinburgh and came away with a 5-2 win, with Scott Pittman, Sean Martin and Jon Tague (3) all on the scoresheet for Steve Pittman’s side.

Elsewhere in the region, Spartans drew 3-3 with Livingston, Dunbar drew 2-2 at Haddington, and Tranent lost narrowly 3-2 at home to Arniston.

Stoneyburn drew 1-1 with Harthill at home, and Falkirk lost by the only goal of the game at home to Armadale.
