Euro 2012: Croatia fined over crowd trouble at Ireland match

The Croatia football association was yesterday fined e25,000 following their supporters’ behaviour at last Sunday’s Euro 2012 match against the Republic of Ireland.

Uefa said that the sanction was imposed for “the setting off and throwing of fireworks and missiles, and a pitch invasion by a supporter”.

A Croatia fan was tackled by stewards after trying to reach coach Slaven Bilic following the 3-1 victory in Poznan, Poland. After Croatia led the match 2-1, Ireland’s kick-off was delayed while smoke from fireworks cleared at one end of the stadium packed with Croatia supporters.
