A video taken in the stands during England’s clash with Switzerland on Monday night, shows hundreds of fans punching the air in unison.

The six-second clip appeared on Facebook just minutes after England celebrated a two-nil victory over Switzerland in their European Championship 2016 qualifier in Basle.

The video, which has already been shared over 3000 times, was uploaded by England fan Daniel Wright Miller, from Newcastle.

The England supporters chant in their stand which was decked with English and British flags.

The England chants could be payback for a notorious incident during the Brazil World Cup in which a saltire appeared among Uruguayan flags during the South American team’s victory over England.

The flag belonged to Scotland fan, Mark McConville, a 41-year-old Formula One engineer from Glasgow.

Independence supporters were in fine voice among Scottish fans during their game against Germany on Sunday night.

Yes badges and stickers were given away by campaigners before the match.

One fan present said: “Everyone was talking about the vote. It was a really good atmosphere though.”

Scotland is due to play England in a friendly match at Celtic park on November 18th.
