Edinburgh United seek yet another new manager as Brownlie quits

EDINBURGH UNITED are looking for their fourth manager in less than a year after Neil Brownlie left the Capital club this week.

It has become the hottest seat in the East Region since Stephen Osbourne’s departed last summer to take over at Arniston Rangers. That led to Barry Campbell having a spell in charge but he quit due to an “unworkable” relationship with the committee.

Brownlie, who was Osbourne’s assistant at the Paties Road club, returned in December to take the reins.

He got off to a flying start when the struggling South Division club won at high- flying Tranent. But it would seem internal squabbling is once again behind the club being left searching for another new manager. “I have left for reasons outwith football, simple as that,” said Brownlie, who insisted his appointment had been temporary in the first place. “Other things have transpired and we’ll leave it at that.”

Haddington will be hoping to cash in on the latest disarray at United when they visit Paties Road on South Division duty tomorrow.

Elsewhere, leaders Dalkeith entertain Blackburn while Spartans travel to Harthill.
