Edinburgh retain title

Edinburgh UNIVERSITY retained the inter-Scottish Universities Football League title last night when they beat their Capital rivals Heriot-Watt University 2-0 in an exciting contest at Riccarton.

After a goal-less first-half, Edinburgh took the lead midway through the second-half when central defender Danny Main scored from a Mark Gair free-kick. Ten minutes before the final whistle, a James Craigen free-kick was headed in by attacking midfield player Tim Rawlinson.

Michael Renwick, the Heriot- Watt head coach, travels later today as head coach of the Scottish Universities squad to Ireland where they will play a match against the Colleges Football Association of Ireland at Oriel Park, Dundalk, tomorrow.
