East of Scotland: Whitehill claim top spot

Whitehill Welfare have taken over as leaders of the Central Taxis Premier Division following a 3-0 win against Heriot-Watt University.

After a goalless first-half, Wayne McIntosh notched a brace followed by a strike from Andrew Kidd.

Spartans, who have headed the table for the entire season, are now in second place on goal difference after the Ainslie Park outfit came from behind to beat Preston Athletic 2-1. Dale O’Hara gave Preston a first-half lead before Andy Martin and Willie Bremner gave Spartans their victory.

Stirling University, the current champions, returned to winning ways with a 5-0 rout of Edinburgh City at Meadowbank with goals from Paul Sludden (2), Blair McWhirter, Chris McKee and Jason Atkins.

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale recorded their biggest win of the season when they beat Civil Service Strollers 7-0, while Tynecastle moved off the bottom rung of the table with a 4-3 win against Gretna 2008 .

Craigroyston lead the First Division after beating Coldstream 2-1 with goals from Steven Moncur and Mark Hendrie.
