East of Scotland: Spartans extend lead at top

An Omar Kader goal early in the second half saw Spartans beat Edinburgh City 1-0 in the Central Taxis Premier Division, the Edinburgh club having now opened up a fifteen point gap at the top.

Second placed Gretna 2008 drew 2-2 away to Tynecastle with goals from Jordan Atkinson and Phil Storey while John Williams and Robbie Arthur netted for Tynecastle. Relegation threatened Leith Athletic beat Civil Service Strollers 3-0 with a double from William Bremner and a penalty from Jack Combe.

In the King Cup second round, Stirling University beat Edinburgh University 2-0 with a double from Chris Geddes.

In the First Divison, second-placed Heriot Watt University were held to a 2-2 draw away to Craigroyston while third-placed Eyemouth United also shared the points in a goal-less draw with Duns.
