East of Scotland league: Persistent City win cup

EDINBURGH City, who had lost 13 consecutive cup finals, finally shed their “bridesmaid” tag yesterday when Robbie Ross scored a hat-trick to seal a 3-2 victory over Whitehill Welfare in the Image Printers East of Scotland Qualifying Cup final.

City looked like they might be collecting runners-up medals again when Stevie Manson gave Welfare an early lead, but then former Arbroath player Ross took over to make it 3-1.

Wayne McIntosh pulled a goal back for the Rosewell side, but City held firm to finally get their hands on silverware.
