Brown lashes out at ‘pathetic’ East Fife fans

EAST FIFE manager Billy Brown launched an astonishing rant against his own club’s fans as his toiling side’s slim hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off suffered another setback with a 2-1 defeat at home to Stenhousemuir.

After the Fifers fell behind to a Scott Buist goal just before the break, the former Hearts and Hibs assistant manager grabbed hold of a microphone at half-time to tell disgruntled supporters: “If you don’t want to support the team then get out. These boys are doing their best – support your team.”

John Gemmell put Stenhousemuir further ahead after the break before Scott McBride pulled one back for the Fifers, who had Darren McCormack sent off and have now gone 14 games without a win. And afterwards, a clearly agitated Brown launched into another astonishing rant against the Fifers’ fans. “It’s pathetic,” he said. “I couldn’t care less if they’re shouting at me – they’re shouting at the players. I thought I was coming to a club that were all as one, but that’s clearly not the case. The players are trying to do their best and all they get is abuse. You feel when you go out there that everyone’s against you.”
