Dunfermline Athletic completed the loan signing of Hibernian’s Sunshine the Leith Lynx ahead of the meeting between the clubs.

Sunshine the Par will be available for the Fife side today as they welcome Neil Lennon’s Hibs to East End Park. However, he will return to Easter Road for the club’s next home fixture, against Queen of the South on April 15.

Sunshine replaces the iconic Sammy the Tammy who has been posted missing of late. The bear has had a number of infamous spells for the Pars, including ‘shooting’ fans of Raith Rovers with a cardboard tank and sledding down the Norrie McCathie Stand. However, the club have been unable to locate him.

Speaking to the Hibs’ official website Pars legend Jim Leishman thanked the Edinburgh outfit for their assistance and understanding.

“We have had search parties out for Sammy, but to no luck so far,” he said. “However, we are pleased to capture this late signing ahead of the big game, we’d like to thank Hibernian for their co-operation and generosity in getting this deal in place.

“Fingers crossed ‘Sunshine the Par’ can bring the boys luck today”.

Having benefited from two emergency loans this season which led to criticism, Hibs have displayed their benevolence with the temporary transfer.

A Hibernian spokesperson said: “Hibernian have enjoyed success in the emergency loan market this season, and hopefully Sunshine will prove to be a similarly strong addition for Dunfermline Athletic.”

The transfer was confirmed on the club’s site by ‘A Fool’.
